This article explains the Promotion Settings for HotDoc Payments, which allows HotDoc to send a push notification to patients through the HotDoc app when their clinic begins using HotDoc Payments for the first time.
Sending these notifications can help clinics raise awareness about online payments, build trust with patients, and reduce time spent educating patients at the front desk about storing card details or completing payment requests.

What are Promotion Settings for Payments?
Payments Push Notifications allow HotDoc to notify patients through the HotDoc app when their clinic starts accepting secure online payments.
This helps clinics:
Build trust and awareness when adopting HotDoc Payments
Reduce confusion at reception about storing card details
Support smoother change management during the clinic’s initial rollout
Patients may receive the notification if they:
Have booked with the clinic before using HotDoc
Have push notifications enabled in their HotDoc app
| Only clinics going live with Payments for the first time are eligible for these notifications. Notifications are not sent to patients of existing clinics already using Payments. |
When are notifications sent?
HotDoc sends notifications once daily at 11am AEST/AEDT.
Patients of clinics that have gone live in the past 24 hours will be included in that. For example, if you click 'Go live' with payments at 3pm, the notifications would start sending at 11am the next day.
It may take up to 60 minutes for the notifications to send.
What does the patient see?
Patients who have opted in to push notifications will see a message on their mobile device, including the name of your clinic:
How do I manage these settings?
This setting is enabled by default for new clinics activating HotDoc Payments for the first time. If you would prefer to not send this, please follow the below steps before going live with Payments.
-
Go to Payments > Payment Setup > Account Settings.
-
Scroll to Promotion Settings, and deselect the check box.
-
Click Save.

This setting is only shown for clinics who are currently onboarding HotDoc Payments. It will no longer be visible once your clinic completes Payments onboarding. If the push notifications have been sent, the setting may remain visible for up to 7 days, but it will be greyed out. |
How can patients manage their Push Notification settings?
Patients can manage their push notifications in the HotDoc app under Notification settings. If they need assistance with opting in or out, please send them this help article for more information: How do I manage my notification settings for my HotDoc app?.
Please note: These opt-outs will not affect clinic-specific communication such as appointment reminders, clinical reminders or results information.
