How to encourage patients to register for MyMedicare via their Medicare Online Account

Patient's can voluntarily register at your practice through their Medicare Online account or through their Express Plus Medicare mobile app if this is linked to their MyGov account. Below are a list of our recommendations for how to encourage patients to register through their online account directly at your practice, so that you don't have to register them into the MyMedicare system.

1. Enable the HotDoc Inform Promotion in your Dashboard

You can enable the HotDoc Inform Promotion at your practice to show a message to patients after booking an appointment, confirming a reminder or completing a form, to encourage them to register with your practice through their Medicare Online Account using these instructions: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/register-for-mymedicare

 

2. Send a broadcast directing patients to register via their Medicare Online Account

You could send a broadcast to eligible patients using our MyMedicare template and add in the services australia website link that explains how a patient can register using their Medicare Online Account: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/register-for-mymedicare

3. Add the online registration link to your Custom Message for Appointment Reminders

You can add a link to your Appointment Reminders to encourage patients to register themselves for MyMedicare. They will see this message when they click on the link in their Reminder Message.

  1. Head to Reminders > Settings in the Dashboard:

  2. Update the Add a Custom Message  field with your desired copy - a suggestion is below:

  3.  Click Save.

4. Add the online registration link to your Practice Profile

You can add a link to your Practice Profile to encourage patients to register themselves for MyMedicare.

  1. Head to Setup > Practice Profile in the Dashboard:

  2. Update your Alert Message with your desired copy:
     

  3. You can make a clickable link using this line of HTML:
<a href="https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/register-for-mymedicare">Click Here</a>
