Can a patient opt-out of SMS notifications?

Last updated 14 January 2021 21:59

Yes, patients can opt themselves out at any time so you can be prompted to remind by post in HotDoc instead.

When a patient opts out via the SMS notification, no recall will be sent by SMS from your clinic again unless the patient decides to opt back in again.

How does a patient opt out of SMS notifications?

  1. To opt out, the patient can follow the link in the SMS and select the opt out link at the bottom of the page:

  2. Selecting this link will then opt the patient out of HotDoc Recall SMS communication and will be clearly illustrated on the next screen. This opt out choice will be reflected when you search for the patient via Dashboard Consent:

  3. A patient can opt themselves back in if they wish by selecting the Do you wish to opt back in option.

Alternatively you can also use your Dashboard to opt the patient in or out manually by following the instructions in this article: How to manage patient consent with the Dashboard
